Know your cookies.....

There's more to a cookie than butter, flour, sugar, and vanilla extract. Not that these things aren't wonderful. I use the best that i can get my hands on - plugra unsalted butter, king arthur flour, nielsen massey pure vanilla. But there is so much more that brings flavor and uniqueness to vlc cookies. i get asked all the time: "What's that?" "that" being the fleck of fresh mint from my garden that brings such brightness to the mint chocolate chip as well as the mojito. and the mojito itself? yes, it really does have rum in it as well as fresh lime zest too. and the pink in the strawberry lemonade? no, no fake colors - that's organic freeze dried strawberries. brazen betty sports her share of almond flour which not only adds flavor but alters the texture as well creating a melt in your mouth affect. cinnamon girl utilizes not only the ground cinnamon in every baker's cabinet but cinnamon oil too which really packs a wallop - you gotta be careful with that stuff! there's tea infused butter, brown butter, and no butter. there's raw egg and hard boiled egg. there's cayenne pepper, black pepper, and white pepper. there's makers mark, dark rum, lion stout beer, brandy, cognac. the cookie palette is unlimited and i love pushing the edge of the cookie world. i mean a toll house cookie is great but who wants to play cover songs their whole life? come into the bakery and check out what's new..................
