Tabloid stuff, right? well, according the man i met this morning, his son was saved by a chihuahua. here's the story:
i went downtown to visit the dentist (yuck!) earlier today and left my truck in a parking lot monitored by an attendant. as is my custom, i had brought along cookies to hand out to anybody who crossed my path. so, naturally, i gave a pack to the attendant. he didn't seem overly enthused but took them graciously and i continued on to the dentist. (you gotta click on read more here.....)
when i returned to retrieve my vehicle, the man was so excited - he kept saying " i can't believe you gave me those cookies with the picture and those words! you don't know what that means to me!" well, i thought, "that's a turn around" - i didn't think he was so interested in the cookies. but it wasn't the cookies - it was the label. for those of you who don't know, the labels for my cookies feature my chihuahua Boots and on the back of the label there is a quote from mark twain which reads "its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog." the man pulls the label out and points to Boots and says "my dog looked just like that. she saved my son's life." then, he turns the label over and shows me that he has written his dog's name "Libby" underneath the quote. he then pulled out his cell phone to show me a picture of his cute young son. his explanation: a coyote was stalking his wife and young son, getting ready to attack, when Libby came to the rescue. she took the coyote on and gave her life for her people. she may have lost the fight, but she won the battle to save those she loved.
i am grateful to the gentleman who shared this experience with me. it was the highlight of my day to know that my cookies in their round about way managed to touch a complete stranger. if you read this sir, i say thank you for sharing and connecting. blessings.
